We have a new opportunity for a Delivery Planning Assistant to join Bridgeway Consulting at our office in Bristol.

The Role:

• Completing and updating Excel spreadsheets
• Updating Bridgeway IT Systems, Roster Editor
• Responsibility for timesheet completion and submission for the entire team
• Complete safety critical paperwork for the entire Western Team
• Dealing with circa 70 team members, both face to face, via phone and electronically
• Dealing with other Bridgeway departments and the client on a regular basis
• Check all documentation prior to issue to safety critical staff
• Update all packs with the latest version of the Hazard Directory, Sectional Appendix and Signal Line Diagrams.
• Undertake Safety Critical duties in line with competencies held and certification gained (when qualified)

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Computer Literate Specifically Excel
• Railway Experience
• Hold Personal Track Safety (PTS), Individual Working Alone (IWA) and Possession Support (PS)

All candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to commute to central Bristol on a daily basis.

We have a new opportunity for an Engineering Surveyor to join Bridgeway Consulting at our head office in Nottingham.

The Role

We are seeking an Engineering Surveyor that will be responsible for leading survey activities, managing a small team and assisting Project Managers. It is important that you have knowledge of both survey and railway access processes including topographical surveying and laser scanning. You will lead in safety critical duties up to Engineering Supervisor (ES) level as required.

You must be able to demonstrate expertise in both manual and automated site surveying techniques and data processing.

Daily Activities

• Lead one or multiple teams and be responsible for survey operations on projects delivering to time and quality required.
• Managing Technicians and Graduates during “on-site” surveys, advising and operating instrument or setting up equipment if required.
• Carry out data processing and validation to required specification.
• Liaise with all outside parties in advance of the works to ensure no delays once on site
• Provide technical support for the department in survey and railway track alignment duties
• Be trained in safety critical duties up to Engineering Supervisor level
• Undertake Safety Critical duties in line with competencies held and certification gained

Examinations Quality Manager

Bridgeway offers a full engineering consultancy service covering all aspects of railway infrastructure including Asset Examination and Inspection, Geomatics, Site and Ground Investigations, Civil Engineering Consultancy & Permanent Way Projects, all of which are supported by our industry leading Training, Access Management, and Safety Teams.

We have an exciting new opportunity for an Examinations Quality Manager to join Bridgeway Consulting at our head office in Nottingham.

The Role:

This role is responsible for helping to develop and manage the Examinations Team, primarily from a Technical and Assurance perspective. The role is primarily office based, but will involve aspects of on site working as required.

Daily Activities:

• May act as the managing examiner on complex structures or sites requiring multiple teams.
• Co-ordinate and manage staff and resources for clients engaged in undertaking work on the Network Rail Infrastructure.
• To mentor and provide guidance to junior and trainee examiners both on site and in the office.
• To provide ongoing input and delivery guidance in complex and high profile projects.
• To undertake training and mentoring and duties in technical competencies for the Examinations Team.
• To understand and improve current on site and reporting processes.
• To undertake report sign off and approval duties.
• To undertake the role of Contractor’s Responsible Engineer for Examination duties.
• Review applicability of the Task Briefing Sheet and briefing of teams.
• Maintaining training records, programmes and plans.
• Responsible for the development of staff within the Infrastructure Services team and shall develop working practices that encourage professional development against the identified needs of the team and wider business.

Competence Requirements

Ideally holding Chartered Status, the individual will have extensive experience in asset examination or asset management duties within the rail environment.
The candidates should have sufficient technical expertise to step into the STE2 competency either immediately or shortly after joining the company.
Candidates must have a full understanding of relevant technical standards including NR/SP/CTM/017 .

Candidates must also hold a full UK driving licence.

Railway Engineering: Permanent Way Apprenticeship

Bridgeway Consulting Ltd are a rail and civil engineering business based in Nottingham. We currently have vacancies for 6 railway Level 2 Rail Engineering Permanent Way Apprenticeships. This is a great opportunity for individuals to earn a salary whilst gaining an education and developing valuable skills.

Work activities will involve undertaking track maintenance and other railway infrastructure related tasks. You should be aware that engineers work a shift system which typically consists of early starts and late finishes and therefore you must be willing to work days, nights and weekends outdoors in all weathers.

Entry requirements:

• Aged 19+
• Must be reliable and punctual
• Hardworking, determined and good work ethics
• Practically minded and have a passion for Engineering
• Safety conscious
• Able to work in a team
• Hold Level 2 Qualifications in Maths and English (Desirable). Hold a Level 1 Qualification in Maths and English and capable with support of gaining a Level 2 in Maths and English (Essential)

Blended training will be provided with on the job and classroom-based training. A full programme will be outlined at interview stage.

Training will include the following:

• City & Guilds 6497/6499 Level 2 Diploma in Rail Engineering Operative Knowledge/Competence.

• Track Induction
• Small Tools and Plant

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a medical and drug/alcohol screening (initial and ongoing) and must have a valid full UK Driving Licence.

We have a new opportunity for an STE4 Examiner to join Bridgeway Consulting at our head office in Nottingham.

Key Accountabilities


• Prepare Task Briefing Sheet and review applicability of it upon arrival at the structure to be examined.
• Ensure pre-prepared SSOW is fit for purpose prior to the examination.
• Carry out the examination in accordance with the company standards and promote safe working practices and leading by example.
• Take accurate photographs for inclusion in the report.
• Inform the Project management team of the status of each examination upon completion
• Prepare reports in accordance with the relevant format for the particular contract for each examination.
• Assist Management in the preparation of asset inspection tenders and quotations


Skills and Qualifications

• STE4
• Personal Track Safety (PTS)
• IRATA – Rope Access
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in examination, inspection and report writing
• IT Literate

Candidates must hold a full UK (manual gearbox) driving licence.
