Railway Possession Support – Weekend Shifts
About Bridgeway
At Bridgeway, we work at the heart of the UK rail network, delivering safe, reliable access for engineering works across the country. We’re proud to be a people-led business where safety comes first, development is encouraged, and hard work is recognised.
If you’re looking for a way into the rail industry with real progression opportunities, this could be your starting point.
The Role
When engineering work needs to take place on the railway, a possession is taken to close the line and create a safe working environment.
As a Possession Support operative, you’ll play a key role in helping make that happen. Working under direction, you’ll assist in delivering safe access arrangements for engineering teams — ensuring everything is in place, compliant and communicated correctly.
This role is primarily weekend night shifts, and much of the work will involve working alone, so confidence and responsibility are essential.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Assisting in the implementation of safe possession arrangements
• Supporting the movement of engineering trains where required
• Following railway rules, legislation and company procedures
• Communicating clearly and professionally with relevant stakeholders
• Completing required documentation accurately and on time
• Following industry reporting standards
What We’re Looking For
• Strong communication skills
• Confidence working independently
• A safety-first mindset
• Willingness to learn and develop
• Drive to build a long-term career in rail
• Right to work in the UK
Essential Requirement
• Full UK Driving Licence
Training & Development
You will attend our 8-day training programme at our Head Office in Nottingham (NG2 1DP)
.
Training courses run monthly, so flexibility is important before applying.
During training, you will gain the following competencies:
• Personal Track Safety (PTS)
• Possession Support (PS)
• Individual Working Alone (IWA)
• Working Near/Adjacent to DC Conductor Rails (DCCR)
Full details of training arrangements will be provided at application stage.
Why Join Bridgeway?
